After-hours answering

You're closed. Your customers aren't.

A customer who calls after six and gets voicemail usually calls the next name on the list. Red Shore answers instead — takes the details, sorts urgent from routine by your rules, and has it waiting for you in the morning.

CallerHi — is anyone there? I wanted to ask about booking.
Red ShoreWe're closed for the evening, but I can take your details. If this is an emergency, please hang up and call 911 now.
CallerNo, nothing urgent. I just didn't want to forget.

That call was going to voicemail. Instead it's a name and a number waiting on your phone.

How it works

1

You forward your line at closing

Your number stays yours — your carrier, your account, nothing ported. You set the forward, and you can undo it in two minutes. We give you the steps in writing on day one.

2

We answer, and sort by your rules

You write down what counts as urgent for your business, in your own words. We apply that. Urgent goes to whoever's on call. Everything else is a message waiting before you're up.

3

You get your evenings back

Each month, a plain accounting: what came in, what we escalated, how long it took to reach a human, and how many hours you didn't have to be reachable.

What we do

Most start here

After hours & overflow

$399/ MONTH · 300 MIN

We pick up when you've closed, and when every line is busy. Nothing about your daytime changes. If it doesn't earn its keep in a month, you turn off the forward and we're done.

Or go all day

Daytime receptionist

$799/ MONTH · 1,000 MIN

The front desk you haven't hired. Answers the questions you field twenty times a week, puts callers through to the right person, books appointments, and takes a message when nobody's free — evenings included.

  • Your hours, location, services, service area — answered from what you gave us
  • Transferred to the right person by name or by job
  • Appointments booked into your calendar, included
  • Anyone who asks for a human gets a human

IncludedWITH DAYTIME · +$149/MO ON AFTER HOURS

Books straight into your real calendar, on your rules — lead time, duration, buffers, which jobs are bookable at all. Reads it back to the caller and confirms to you both.

Your calendar has to be connected first, which we quote once. Without one the agent takes a callback request rather than guessing — see the limits below.

Who it's for

An answering service for any business whose customers call.

If someone has to reach you to book, ask a price, or decide whether to go elsewhere, the calls arriving after you close are worth money. Most of them are not emergencies — they're people who will call someone else in four minutes.

  • Contractors, trades, and home services
  • Law firms and professional practices
  • Property managers and landlords
  • Auto shops, towing, and equipment rental
  • Salons, studios, and veterinary clinics
  • Real estate, tourism, and accommodations

Some of these need real emergency escalation at 2am. Some just need the enquiry captured before it's gone. Same service, and you decide which is which.

Why this one

Built by people who built call centres.

Most AI answering services put a robot in front of your number and hope. Between us we've spent decades writing the software behind contact centres — routing, escalation chains, transfers that carry context, the reporting managers actually use. That's the hard part, and it decides whether a 2am call reaches a person.

If our system fails, your number routes straight to your on-call phone and you're exactly where you were before you hired us. That's designed in, not improvised.

Terms, all tiers

  • Month to month. Thirty days notice, no reason needed, no penalty
  • Extra minutes at 50¢, itemised, never a surprise
  • Setup is normally $500 — waived for our first 50 clients
  • Prices in Canadian dollars, plus HST

Worth measuring against one missed job, not against what an app costs.

Honest limits

What it won't do.

Every one of these is deliberate. An assistant that confidently invents an answer you know is wrong is worse than no assistant at all.

  • It won't quote a price. Not unless you've loaded your price list and signed off on it. Otherwise it takes a number and says someone will be in touch.
  • It won't answer a question you haven't answered. It works from what you gave us and nothing else. Ask it something off that list and it says it doesn't know, then takes a number. That's the whole point.
  • It won't promise a response time.It never tells your customer help is on the way, or that anyone has been reached. It says what it's about to do, and stops.
  • It won't book a slot it can't see.No connected calendar, no confirmed appointments. It takes a callback request instead of guessing.
  • It won't pretend to be a person.Every call opens by saying it's an automated assistant, and that the call is recorded.
  • It isn't an emergency service.Genuine emergencies are told to hang up and dial 911, first thing, every time. You keep your own emergency arrangements.
  • It won't replace your phone service. We're a layer in front of the line you already have.
  • It speaks English only, for now. We'd rather tell you that than handle a French call badly.

Next

Hear it before you decide.

Fifteen minutes. We'll ask what your evenings actually look like, and you can call a working agent and try to trip it up. If it isn't a fit, we'll tell you.
